His portrayal of Cornelius Hackl in Performance Riverside’s Hello, Dolly! earned him an Inland Theatre League Award in 2013. In April of 2015, Tyler was awarded The Selvin Family Scholarship for his leadership, dedication, and professionalism in the theatre by Lewis Wilkenfeld and Cabrillo Music Theatre.
Born and bred in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California, Tyler Matthew Burk played baseball and football until the age of sixteen. His competitive background in sports gave him the early athletic ability to hone a wide variety of dance styles.
Tyler has been fortunate enough to study under the direction of numerous Broadway, West-End, and Hollywood veterans including Jane Lanier, David Thaxton, Nancy Sullivan, Bill Szobody, Faith Prince, Maria Torres and many more.
He trained in dance at Westside Academy of Dance in Santa Monica and The Performing Arts Center in Van Nuys. His studies have taken him around the world to study acting and voice in Scotland, Germany, and England. In 2018, Tyler's portrayal of Prince Eric in Disney's The Little Mermaid at the Candlelight Pavilion earned him a Broadway Regional Award nomination for Best Leading Actor in a Musical.
Currently a Dance Instructor and Headshot Photographer, Tyler graduated from Pepperdine University in Malibu (2015), with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Classical Voice and Acting. When not performing himself, Tyler is an accomplished choreoographer in the Los Angeles area and an avid yogi. He is SAG eligible and a member of the Equity Member Candidate Program.
